I am not your madrina

I am not anybody's Madrina. I do not do readings over the internet. Trust me, you do not want that. I only have three years in Ocha, and I'm the gang that couldn't shoot straight. I can't sing, I can't dance, and I sometimes struggle to open an obi. But I am devout, and I am not unkind. If you need to meet a Madrina or Padrino, contact me, and I will put you in touch with someone, if I can, but it won't be me. I'm not here to build a house or claim authority I am not entitled to.

I am a beadweaver. And, in that, I AM somewhat of an authority. I use Traditional African and contemporary techniques to create beaded artworks for the Orisha, Nkisi, and Lwa. My beadworks are not long strings of beads glued around an object, as is common in the Religion. My beads are woven into a fabric directly around the object, producing a light, beautiful covering. I'm kind of obsessive about NOT using glue.

This blog will tell of my battle with Parkinson's Disease and how Obatala Ayaguna returned my ability to bead when I made Ocha. This blog will tell you about the beads of our beautiful religion, and how to keep your own beads bright, beautiful, and brimming with ashe.
